After 4 years of pain , Celtic finally get to fly the league flag before kicking off the SPL season. The 12.45 kick off will see Celtic raising the champions flag before they set out to defend their honour.
As champions , the Bhoys get to start the season at home with an early kick off. However the early kick off will not dampen the party atmosphere within the Celtic camp . Neil Lennon was still in his playing career at Celtic when the last manager in charge won a title. The days of Strachan are well and truly over and it is a new dawn for Celtic.
After a 2-1 victory over Helsinki on Wednesday night , with goals from Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew, Celtic are in the driving seat to get into the final qualification round for the Champions League group stages – which also was last achieved by Strachan.
It’s all looking bright at Celtic. No Rangers, no real major squad concerns, and even Lennon has a new side parting.
The buzz from Celtic fans has been more than evident in the past week and the match, which will be shown live on Sky Sports 2 after a new TV deal was agreed, will certainly have a party atmosphere. With no major changes to the squad this transfer window the fans know what to expect from the players that will be on the pitch just as the players know what will be expected of them.
Aberdeen , the opponents, have been bold in stating they feel they can upset Celtic’s day and possibly their title hopes for the season.
Former Celt Niall McGinn claims Aberdeen have a squad capable of going the distance and that it all starts this lunchtime.
Just as the Celtic fans are up for this match, as are the Dons as they have sold out their allocation granted by Celic.
The match is sure to be a cracker!
